TraceGuard
V2.5 tracking and supply chain integrity system provides RFID and
barcode users unit level tracking beyond traditional pick, pack and
shipping operations
GenuOne, Inc. - September 09, 2003
GenuOne, a leading provider of value chain security systems,
today announced the immediate availability of TraceGuard™ Release V2.5.
The latest release of TraceGuard, an industrial-strength product
tracking software application and database system, includes support for
data from major RFID tags and readers. This enables companies to
capture and manage high-volume transactions from RFID and other tagging
technologies, such as barcodes, at the product unit level, often within
existing network infrastructures. Through client-driven data management
tools, TraceGuard provides companies unprecedented value chain
visibility, integrity and security.
TraceGuard is unique because it connects suppliers,
manufacturers, distributors, retailers and service centers within one
central web-based networked platform. Using data from RFID tags, as
well as barcodes and other tagging technologies such as covert inks,
TraceGuard captures, monitors, and provides visibility into product
movement along the entire corporate value chain and product lifecycle
while interoperating with a client's existing enterprise applications,
including ERP, WMS and inventory management systems. As a result,
TraceGuard provides enterprises with unit-level inventory control,
streamlined location and recovery of non-conforming product, gray
market control, anti-counterfeiting, real-time visibility into product
movements and warranty fraud detection.
"Based upon our pragmatic experience working with Fortune 500
customers, we see companies using a mix of RFID tags and conventional
barcodes within their operations for the next several years," said John
Murphy, Director, TraceGuard™. "In order to successfully and
cost-effectively benefit from these hybrid environments, they will
require a real-time data management infrastructure for high-volume
product unit-level transactions regardless of the source of data.
TraceGuard was purpose-built to provide this infrastructure, is proven
in the marketplace, and now allows customers to integrate low-cost
Auto-ID technology into product tracking solutions as it makes sense
for their business."
The TraceGuard system can be deployed in the form of local
applications linked to a central server or as a thin, modular, web- or
server-based application that requires no major costs or adjustments to
expand value chain coverage to suppliers, manufacturers, distribution,
and retail and returns partners.
TraceGuard is based on a high-performance flexible
"transactional engine" which provides all of the core functionality,
including:
- Transaction switching and routing
- Business and data rule management
- User role management
- Data management
- Input and output control (I/O nodes include - scanners,
readers, printers, coders, data feeds, live data interfaces, production
line sensors and controls)
- User interface (including industrial interfaces)
For a specific application, TraceGuard is customized by defining
specific configurations and extensions including application-specific
data fields, user roles and permissions, business and data integrity
rules, network and input-output node configuration. This customization
is based upon a client's specific existing workflows, providing an
easy-to-adopt integration platform.
TraceGuard manages a network of nodes for input, output,
transactions and data management. This allows for great flexibility in
both customizing TraceGuard for a specific installation and in
dynamically enhancing and updating the system as the customers
configuration and needs change.
TraceGuard provides a "starter kit" of standard functionality
for Mark, Pack, Ship, Service and Inquire, which represent the best
practices for trace and track applications. Integrators use the
TraceGuard ToolKit to customize and configure TraceGuard to meet the
specific client's needs.
"The current release of TraceGuard is a major achievement for
GenuOne and reinforces our commitment to deliver scalable software
applications for the Auto-ID industry's emerging needs. After a year of
market research and client interaction, we are confident that we have
created an extremely unique software platform, which will fill a
significant void in the infrastructure, data management and
transactional needs of a RFID platform," said Jeffrey Unger, Chief
Executive Officer, GenuOne.
The TraceGuard application is currently in commercial use in a
number of large multi-national corporations in various industries
including consumer products, footwear and apparel, sporting goods,
electronics and luxury goods.
