Boston, MA - March 26, 2002
GenuOne, Inc., a leading provider of brand security technologies
to combat counterfeiting, diversion and intellectual property theft,
recently hosted a conference of global brand security and intellectual
property professionals at its world headquarters. The conference was
attended by government and private sector leaders visiting the United
States to see what can be learned from American companies fighting
counterfeiting, diversion and intellectual property theft.
Representatives from the Pacific Rim, Asia, Europe, the Middle East,
Africa and South America were in attendance.
GenuOne practice leaders presented their strategies,
technologies and implementation plans for combating intellectual
property theft throughout the world. The audience consisted of
government officials, university professors, lawyers and members of the
legislative branch of their respective governments. All were eager to
see what new ideas GenuOne had designed and implemented.
Brett Hauser, GenuOne Sporting Goods and Lifestyle Brands
Practice Leader, said of the conference, "The fact that so many
countries and so many different levels of government and private
business were represented shows the global concern for these issues.
GenuOne is excited to help around the world to combat the ever growing
problem."
The conference was the first step in a long process that will
allow private companies like GenuOne to help clients secure their value
chain and protect their bottom line. The need is for business and
government to work together in securing every aspect of the value
chain. GenuOne practice leaders presented the company's ideas and
technologies.
One such technology offers instant product authentication
through covert and overt markings seamlessly integrated into goods,
their packages and shipping crates. When used in concert with handheld
readers to verify products, companies are able to build a large defense
network. When used in concert with governmental agencies, the defense
network grows even further, and counterfeiters, diverters and
intellectual property thieves are pushed from mainstream commerce.
The representatives' national programs were organized by the
Phelps Stokes Fund and were traveling in the United States under the
auspices of the International Visitor Program of the United States
Department of State.
